Chris and Jenny Kaufman adopted our beautiful boy, Brutus, yesterday!!  He is their 2nd Rotten Rottie since they also adopted Sabbath (AKA Greta) from our Rock n Roll litter! So now she has a big brother!

Huge thanks to Amanda Paw Creek Training who took Brutus in on short notice when we found out that he was being kept in a horse trailer when it was 110-115 degrees outside. I was so worried the temps inside the trailer were going to get so high it would kill him. Amanda lived pretty close to where he was and dropped everything to take him in.

She spent 2 weeks training him and then another week training Chris and Jenny. Yesterday I was able to get him neutered, chipped and finish up his vaccines and heartworm test him, then off to the Kaufman’s to be adopted!!! Yay!! Congrats!! I really enjoyed the time I got to spend with Brutus. He is special.

On Sunday, a severely neglected Rottweiler was surrendered as a stray to the county pound. Today, she is safe with us — and we have named her Amara, which means “eternal” or “grace.”

Amara - from the shelter to being saved...

Amara only weighs 44 pounds when a healthy Rottweiler her size should weigh nearly 80. Her body tells the story of her suffering: she looks like a walking skeleton, and pieces of her ears are missing — signs that she likely had to fight for every scrap of food she could find. Despite this cruel past, her face still holds a gentle beauty.

No matter how much food she’s given, Amara never turns any away. She is still afraid that tomorrow might mean hunger again. Her tail, once tightly tucked in fear, is starting to loosen. She is slowly learning that she is safe now, and her brave Rottweiler spirit is beginning to shine through.

We don’t know exactly what horrors Amara endured, but we know one thing for certain: her former “owner” failed her in every way. She was tortured by neglect. But from this moment forward, she will only know love, care, and the dignity every dog deserves. Here is a video I made of her leaving her old life, and starting her new.

Amara’s journey to healing begins today.

Yesterday we rescued Reuben from the euthanasia list at MCACC. He is an old guy who moves slow and hasn’t been taken very good care of. We are thrilled that we were given the chance to provide Reuben will all the love and care he has always deserved.

We are forever grateful to Peggy & Don Phillips for stepping up to foster Reuben and Rotten Rottie Rescue can’t thank you both enough!

This poor boy was found by a cop stuck in a canal in Phoenix. A police officer was able to pull him out and bring him to the shelter where he was so exhausted he couldn’t even stand. Animals often fall into the canals while trying to drink water. I can’t imagine the fear and terror he felt when he was unable to climb back out. No one knows how long he was in the canal, but we assume he was there for quite some time due to how he exhausted he was when he was finally pulled out.

When we picked him up today, he was covered in feces and smelled like death, he has a wound on his neck, sore hips and joints, a few broken nails, a dew claw that split in half and a UTI. We will mend all his wounds, give him medicine for his joints, feed him like a King, and provide Reuben with the safety and love he has always deserved.

He may not have mattered to the people who had him before, but he matters to us and he always will!! ❤️
